General information about automatic transmission (Chevrolet Tahoe 1)

            0

Some vehicles are equipped with 3-speed transmissions (3L80/3L80-HD) or 4-speed (4L60,4L60-E or 4L80-E) automatic transmissions. 4-speed units are equipped with a torque converter with a locking friction clutch (TCC). The clutch provides a direct connection between the engine and the drive wheels, which increases the efficiency of the power transmission and improves fuel economy. Since 1991, some cars have been equipped with an electronically controlled Hydramatic 4L80-E automatic transmission. Diagnostics and repair of this transmission are performed in the dealer's service center.

The 4L60-E and 4L80-E transmissions are electronically controlled and do not have a throttle valve with a cable. Instead of a cable drive, electronic transmission control is provided.

You can dismantle the transmission yourself and perform individual adjustment work.

Warning! It is prohibited to tow a vehicle with an automatic transmission at a speed exceeding 50 km/h or for a distance exceeding 80 km.
