Models before 1994.
1. Move the transmission selector to position N. Move the switch housing (see photo) to the right, to the L position.

2. Move the selector to position P. The locking switch will move to the correct position.
3. Move the transmission selector to position N.
4. Disconnect the wires from the switch.
5. Spread the ends of the bracket on the switch body and remove the switch.
6. Align the rod on the switch with the hole in the selector shaft.
7. Install the switch in place. First align the switch with the recess, then press down on the front of the switch.
8. Adjust the position of the switch by moving the transmission selector to position P.
9. Connect the wires.
Models since 1995.
10. Apply the parking brake and move the transmission selector to position N.
11. Pry the end of the cable off the ball joint on the transmission selector.
12. Unscrew the nut securing the selector to the shaft and remove the selector.
13. Disconnect the connector from the switch, unscrew the bolts and remove the switch from the shaft (see photo). If necessary, file the roller to remove burrs.

14. When installing the switch, align the flats on the shaft with the flat areas of the hole on the switch.
15. Before installing the bolts, insert studs into the bolt holes in the switch and shaft. Remove the studs one by one and tighten the bolts. The new switch comes with plastic mounting studs. The old switch will be fixed in the correct position if the bolts are tightened so that the marks from the previous tightening of the bolts on the switch flanges exactly match the heads of the bolts. After assembly, move the selector to all positions. The mounting studs on the new switch are cut off and the switch will be adjusted.
16. Install the selector and connect the cable.
17. Make sure that the engine starts only in the selector position P or N. Otherwise, loosen the mounting bolts and turn the switch slightly until it operates only in the specified selector positions.
