Checking the efficiency of the braking system (Chevrolet Cruze J300)

            0

It is advisable to check the efficiency of the brake system on special brake stands (similar to those used during technical inspection of vehicles). In extreme cases, an approximate comprehensive assessment of the operation of the braking system can be performed on a flat horizontal area closed to traffic.

Car without load (only the driver in the cabin) accelerate to a speed of approximately 15-20 km/h. Press the brake pedal sharply to achieve maximum possible deceleration and do not release it until the car comes to a complete stop.

If the car stopped without deviating from the straight-line movement, and the deceleration was sufficiently intense, the braking system can be considered serviceable. Otherwise, check the condition of the components and repair the system if necessary.

Note: The following relationships must be observed (Fig. 9.5):

  • Lleft lane. = Lright trans.
  • Lleft rear. = L right rear.
  • Ltrans. > Lback.

Ltrans. > Lback.

Warnings: If, during a similar check of a car equipped with ABS, the brake marks are as clearly visible as during a check of a car without ABS, then the anti-lock braking system is faulty. In this case, urgently contact a car service for its repair. Do not abuse such an assessment, because it is associated with increased one-sided tire wear.
