Checking the parking brake (Chevrolet Cruze J300)

            0

The parking brake should hold the vehicle on a 25% slope when the parking brake lever is moved to the uppermost position (all the way to the stop).

1. To check the correct adjustment of the parking brake, find an overpass or loading ramp near the parking place of your vehicle with a height of H = 1.25 m and an entry length of L = 5 m (Fig. 9.6). This ratio corresponds to a slope of 25%.

2. If there is no such ramp, for a simplified check of the parking brake, place the car on a level surface. Set the gearshift lever to neutral, fully raise the parking brake lever. Get out of the car and try to move it.
