Removal and installation the fuel rail (Chevrolet Cruze J300)

The fuel rail is removed for replacement if damaged (breakage of fittings), to replace injectors or to gain access to other components.

You will need: 10 and 12 mm wrenches, a flat-blade screwdriver.

1. Reduce the pressure in the fuel system (see "Reducing pressure in the engine fuel system").

2. Remove the decorative engine cover (see "Removal and installation the decorative engine cover").

3. Press the spring clip and disconnect the wiring harness connector from the intake manifold air temperature sensor connector.

5. ...and disconnect the engine wiring harness connector from the manifold absolute pressure sensor connector.

7. ... remove the engine wiring harness mounting clamps from the retainers on the intake manifold and move the wiring harness to the side.

8. Squeeze the bent tabs of the crankcase ventilation system outlet hose clamp and slide the clamp along the hose...

9. ...and remove the hose from the cylinder head cover pipe.

10. Press the fuel hose tip clamps...

11. ...and disconnect the fuel hose from the fuel rail fitting.

12. Disconnect the absolute pressure sensor hose from the intake manifold.

13. Disconnect the purge hose of the adsorber from the inlet pipe fitting...

14. ...and disconnect the purge hose of the adsorber from the holders of the intake pipe.

15. Unscrew the two nuts securing the intake pipe bracket to the cylinder head, unscrew the two bolts securing the bracket to the intake pipe...

16. ...and remove the bracket.

17. Slide the engine wiring harness shoe retainer...

18. ...and disconnect the pads from the injector connectors.

19. Remove the two bolts securing the fuel rail to the intake pipe...

20. ...and remove the ramp, removing the injectors from the holes in the intake pipe.

Warning: If any of the injectors remain in the intake manifold when removing the fuel rail, be sure to replace the retainer for that injector.




21. If necessary, remove the injectors from the rail (see "Removal, inspection and installation of injectors").

Note: Replace the injector sealing rings with new ones each time the fuel rail is removed or disassembled.


22. Install the fuel rail in the reverse order of disassembly and removal, lubricating the injector sealing rings with engine oil.

23. After connecting the fuel hose to the rail, start the engine and check the tightness of the hose connection to the rail and the injector seals.
