The fuel rail is removed for replacement if damaged (broken fittings), to replace injectors or gain access to other components.
1. Reduce the pressure in the fuel system (see "Reducing pressure in the fuel system").
2. Disconnect the wire from the negative terminal of the battery.

3. Squeeze the latch...

4. ...and disconnect the wiring harness connector from the mass air flow sensor.
5. Remove the fuel pressure pulsation compensator (see "Replacing the fuel pressure pulsation compensator").

6. Slide the fuel supply hose end retaining clip.

7. Press the release button...

8. ...and disconnect the fuel supply line hose from the fuel rail pipe.

9. Squeeze the lock...

10. ...and disconnect the wiring harness connector from the purge valve of the adsorber.

11. Squeeze the lock...

12. ...and disconnect the wiring harness connector from the absolute pressure sensor in the intake manifold.

13. Using a plastic mounting blade or screwdriver, disconnect the holders of the absolute pressure sensor wiring harness from the bracket of the canister purge valve...

14. ...and fuel injectors.

15. Pull out the wire harness connector retainer tab...

16. ...after that, squeeze the lock...

17. ...and disconnect the block from the valve of the variable valve timing system.

18. Loosen the clamp securing the air supply hose to the throttle body pipe and remove the hose from the pipe.

19. Move the stopper...

20. ...then squeeze the wiring harness connector lock...

21. ...and disconnect the block from the throttle assembly.

22. Remove the two screws securing the purge valve bracket and move the valve with the bracket to the side.
23. Remove the crankcase ventilation hose (see "Cleaning the crankcase ventilation system").

24. Overcoming the resistance of the clamps, disconnect the rear bracket of the engine wiring harness from the cylinder head cover.

25. Use a screwdriver to pry...

26. ...and remove the cover of the side holder of the engine wiring harness.

27. Use a screwdriver to press the two latches and disconnect the side bracket of the engine wiring harness from the cylinder head cover.

28. Disconnect the fuel rail ground wire end from the engine by unscrewing the bolt securing the end to the cylinder head...

29. ...and the screw for fastening to the intake pipe.

30. Move the stopper...

31. ...then squeeze the lock...

32. ...and disconnect the wiring harness connector from the fuel injector. Disconnect the connectors from the other injectors in the same way.

33. Remove the two bolts securing the fuel rail to the intake pipe...

34. ...and remove the ramp, removing the injectors from the holes in the intake pipe.
CAUTION: If any injector remains in the intake manifold when removing the fuel rail, be sure to replace the retainer for that injector.
35. If necessary, remove the injectors from the rail (see "Removal, inspection and installation of injectors").
NOTE: Replace the injector O-rings with new ones whenever the fuel rail is removed or disassembled.
36. Install the fuel rail in the reverse order of disassembly and removal, lubricating the injector sealing rings with engine oil.
37. After connecting the fuel hose to the rail, start the engine and check the tightness of the hose connection to the rail and the injector seals.
