Place chocks under the rear wheels. Remove caps 1, (see figure 4-1), hubs 4 and loosen the fastenings of the right and left wheels.
Loosen the adjusting nuts of the 2 hubs.
Raise the front of the vehicle, unscrew the nuts, remove the conical bushings 3 and remove the front wheels.
Remove the crankcase protection plate and engine splash guard.
Remove the cotter pin and unscrew the nut securing the ball pin of the outer end of the right steering rod, press the ball pin out of the steering arm.
Unscrew the two nuts, remove the spring washers, the cushion clip and disconnect the stabilizer bar from the right lower 14 suspension arm.
Unscrew the right shock absorber rod mounting nut, remove the spring washer, cushion washer and upper shock absorber cushion.
Loosen the nut securing the shock absorber to the lower suspension arm bracket, remove the spring washer, remove the bolt and remove the right shock absorber.
Unscrew the nut securing the right strut to the body bracket and remove the flat washer.
Unscrew the bolt securing the strut to the suspension crossmember, remove the spring washer and the strut.
Place a support under the lower arm 14 of the front suspension and, lowering the vehicle, compress the suspension spring 13 until the rebound buffer is unloaded.
Unscrew the upper ball joint mounting nut and remove the brake hose mounting brackets from the joint.
Loosen the bolt securing the brake protective cover to the caliper.
Bend back the edges of the front protective cover and unscrew the two bolts securing the caliper to the steering knuckle. Remove the caliper and protective cover, hang the caliper, avoiding tension on the brake hoses.
Loosen the lower ball pin mounting nut, press the ball pins out of the seats in the steering knuckle and remove the steering knuckle with the hub and brake disc from the outer joint tailstock of the drive.
Fix the wheel drive shaft in a suspended position.
Unscrew the two nuts securing the upper control arm axle, remove the spring washers and remove the upper control arm with the ball joint and axle assembly. When removing the arm, mark the number and location of the adjusting washers between the arm axle and the suspension crossmember.
Carefully lift the car, unload the suspension spring 13.
Caution: To avoid injury, do not stand in front of the spring during its unloading, removal and installation.
Remove the support, lower the lower arm as far down as possible and remove the spring with the support cup and gasket.
Loosen the lower arm axle nut, remove the arm axle, remove the outer and inner thrust washers and adjusting washers. Remove the lower suspension arm with the joints in assembly. Mark the number and location of the adjusting washers. When assembling the suspension, install the washers in place.
Perform the above operations to remove the left front suspension.
Unscrew the four nuts, remove the spring washers and remove the anti-roll bar 23.
Loosen the nuts securing the engine mount cushions to the suspension crossmember brackets.
Install a crossmember on the vehicle and lift the engine.
Place a support under crossbar 18 and lower the vehicle until the support rests against the crossbar.
Loosen the nut securing the rebound buffer bracket to the upper support of the front suspension spring, remove the flat and spring washers.
Loosen the nuts securing the upper spring support to the body side member, remove the flat and spring washers.
Loosen the nuts securing the crossmember to the body side member and remove the spring washers.
Remove the adjusting plates 21 located between the side member and the cross member, noting their number and location. Remove the bolts, remove the rebound buffer bracket and the flat washers located between the rebound buffer bracket and the side member.
Perform the above operations for the suspension on the other side of the car. Raise the car until the crossmember is free of the engine and body side members and remove the crossmember assembly with brackets and spring supports. Perform the operation for this item with an assistant. suspension arms and remove the steering knuckle.
Install the front suspension of the vehicle in the reverse order of removal. In this case:
- install the adjusting washers and adjusting plates in their original places; - install springs of only one class on the vehicle suspension (class "A" - no marking or marking with white paint, class "B" - with black marking on the outer surface of the coils). It is permissible to install class "A" springs on the front suspension if class "B" springs are installed on the rear suspension;
- perform final tightening of the suspension joint threads under a static load of 320 kg on the vehicle;
- tightening torques for threaded connections:
- nuts for fastening the upper spring support and cross member to the side member — 70...80 Nm (7.0...8.0 kgf·m);
- engine mount mounting nuts — 28...34 Nm (2.8...3.4 kgf·m);
- lower suspension arm axle mounting nuts — 220...260 Nm (22.0...26.0 kgf·m);
- upper suspension arm axle mounting nuts — 70...80 Nm (7.0...8.0 kgf·m);
- nuts for fastening ball joints to steering knuckle — 85...105 Nm (8.5...10.5 kgf·m);
- brake caliper mounting bolts to steering knuckle — 30...35 Nm (3.0...3.5 kgf·m);
- bolt for fastening the tie rod to the suspension cross member — 70...80 Nm (7.0...8.0 kgf·m);
- stretch tie-rod to body fastening nut — 110...170 Nm (11.0...17.0 kgf·m);
- shock absorber mounting nut to lower suspension arm - 52...62 Nm (5.2...6.2 kgf·m); tie rod end ball joint nut — 44...54 Nm (4.4...5.4 kgf·m). If the nut cutout does not match the hole for the cotter pin, tighten it further to ensure cotter pinning;
- wheel fastening nuts — 85...95 Nm (8.5...9.5 kgf·m).
Adjust the axial clearances in the front wheel hub bearings following the recommendations in the subsection "Checking and adjusting the clearance in the front wheel hub bearings".
Check and, if necessary, adjust the front wheel alignment angles following the recommendations in the subsection "Checking and adjusting the front wheel alignment angles".
