Disassembling the gearbox (Chevrolet Niva 1)

            0

Secure the gearbox to the stand. Remove the locking plates 9 (see figure 3-59), unscrew bolts 7 and remove differential box bearing caps 8, adjusting nuts 10 and outer rings of roller bearings. Mark caps 8 and outer rings of bearings so that they can be installed in their original places during assembly.

10 - bearing adjusting nut;
11 - gearbox housing.

Remove the differential box from the gearbox housing 11 together with the driven gear 2 and the inner bearing rings.

To remove gear 1 and its parts:
  • turn the gearbox housing upside down (figure 3-60) and, holding the flange 3 of the drive gear with stopper 1, unscrew the flange fastening nut 2 with key;

4 - bracket.

  • remove the flange and take out the drive gear with the adjusting ring, the inner ring of the rear bearing and the spacer sleeve;
  • remove the oil seal, oil deflector and inner ring of the front bearing from the gearbox housing;
  • press out the outer rings of the front and rear bearings using mandrel 67.7853.9579;
  • remove the spacer sleeve from the drive gear and, using the universal puller and mandrel A.45008 (figure 3-61) remove the inner race of the rear roller bearing;
  • remove the drive gear adjusting ring.

  • unscrew the bolts securing the driven gear and knock the satellite axle out of the differential box;
  • turn the axle gears and satellites so that the latter roll out into the differential windows, after which they can be removed;
  • remove the axle shaft gears with support washers.
