Caution! The air conditioning system is under high pressure. Do not loosen any hoses or fittings or remove any parts until the system has been discharged by a workshop or service station. When disconnecting air conditioning hoses, wear eye protection.
Note: If the compressor is replaced, the filter (see section 14).
Removal
1. Let them discharge the system for you (see precautions above).
2. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
3. Set the car to the parking brake and block the rear wheels. Raise the front of the vehicle and support it securely on jack stands.
4. Remove the drive belt (see chapter 1, section 21) and oil filter (see chapter 1, section 12), if necessary to ensure better access.
5. Disconnect the electrical connector from the compressor clutch (see illustration).

6. Disconnect the refrigerant lines and disconnect the electrical connectors on the rear of the compressor. Plug open ducts to prevent dirt and moisture from entering (see illustration).

7. Remove the bolts securing the compressor to the mounting brackets and remove it from the vehicle (see illustrations).

Installation
8. If installing a new compressor, follow the compressor instructions regarding draining excess oil before installation.
9. The coupling can be transferred from the old compressor to the new one.
10. Installation is carried out in reverse order. Replace all O-rings with new ones made specifically for the air conditioning system and lubricate them with refrigerant oil.
11. Have the system pumped, charged, and leak tested by the shop that discharged the system.
