Removal and installation the generator (Chevrolet Orlando 1)

The need to perform work is determined during the diagnostics of generator faults. The generator cannot be repaired independently and in case of malfunction it should be replaced. The generator is sold assembled. Generator repair is possible in a specialized workshop.

1. We prepare the vehicle for maintenance and repair and install it on an inspection pit or overpass.

2. Disconnect the wire terminal from the negative terminal of the battery.

3. Remove the engine crankcase protection.

4. Remove the auxiliary drive belt.



5. Press the lock and disconnect the wiring harness block from the generator.



6. Inspect the connector and make sure there is no corrosion or damage. If necessary, we treat it with a special agent for cleaning electrical contacts and clean the contacts from oxides.



7. Remove the rubber cap and treat the thread of the contact bolt B+ with penetrating lubricant.



8. Using a 13 mm wrench, unscrew the fastening nut and remove the power cable tip from the generator terminal.

9. Using the TORX E14 key, unscrew the two mounting bolts and remove the generator.



9. Install the generator in the reverse order, while treating the generator terminals with a cleaning agent and protecting electrical contacts. Tighten the generator mounting bolts to a torque of 35 Nm, and tighten the power cable mounting nut to a torque of 20 Nm.
