Cleaning and replacing the air filter element (Chevrolet Orlando 1)

We clean and replace the filter element in accordance with the maintenance plan. Some repairs in the engine compartment will require removal of the air filter housing and air intake manifold.

1. We prepare the car for maintenance and repair.

2. Open the hood.

3. Using a Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the six screws securing the air filter cover.

4. Lift the cover up without disconnecting the air pipe from it.

5. Remove the filter element from the air filter housing and replace it or...

... if the maintenance plan requires cleaning the filter element, blow it out with compressed air using a foot pump or compressor.

Note: When cleaning the filter element with a vacuum cleaner, or blowing it with compressed air using a compressor or foot pump, direct the air flow in the direction opposite to its movement when the engine is running.


Warning. Do not direct compressed air under high pressure perpendicular to the filter material, especially at close range, to avoid damaging the filter element.


6. Using a damp cloth, clean the lower part of the filter housing from dust.

7. Install the parts in reverse order.
