Fuel pump — removal and installation (Chevrolet Trailblazer 1)

1. Relieve the pressure in the fuel system (see subsection 2).

2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

3. Remove the fuel tank from the vehicle (see subsection 5).

4. Disconnect the fuel lines and fuel vapor circulation lines from the pump.

5. Pry up the retainer and turn the pump mounting ring counterclockwise to loosen its tightening force (see illustration).

6. Remove the pump from the fuel tank (see illustration). When removing the pump, it is necessary to tilt it so as not to damage the float of the fuel system measuring unit.

Warning: Some volume may remain in the pump reservoir and spill when removed. Prepare absorbent cloth napkins, as well as a container in which the pump will be placed after removal.


7. The electric fuel pump cannot be repaired - if an individual part fails, the entire unit must be replaced. If necessary, transfer the fuel pressure sensor and measuring unit to the new pump (see subsection 8).

8. Clean the sealing surface on the tank and install a new seal on the fuel pump.

9. Install the pump, aligning the position of its connectors with the position of the fuel lines.

10. Press the pump until it locks into place and install the mounting ring. Make sure the ring is fully seated and that the retainer fits into the groove.

11. Further assembly is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
