Reference information
- Initial check: Performed regardless of the presence of a passenger in the seat.
- If the seat belt buckle is fastened, the warning lamp immediately goes out and the audible alarm is switched off, regardless of the ignition status.
Front seat belt buckle with tensioner
The front seat belt buckle with tensioner contains a mechanically controlled pyrotechnic piston that is triggered in a frontal or oblique collision and takes up the slack in the seat belt. After an accident in which the front seat belt buckle with tensioner is triggered, it must be replaced.
Three-point seat belt with emergency locking retractor (ELR) mechanism
The three-point seat belt tensioner with emergency locking retractor (ELR) is normally unlocked, allowing the occupant to move freely. The exceptions are emergency situations such as sudden braking, sudden acceleration or sharp turns.
two-point lap seat belt for the middle rear seat
The two-point lap belt for the center rear seat is a single continuous webbing. The webbing runs from the anchor point through the latch plate and then into the retractor mechanism.
Operational and functional checks
Attention!
Keep seat belts away from sharp objects and other items that may damage them.
- Protect the lock parts and latch tongue from deformation and damage.
- Do not bleach or dye the belt webbing. Use only water and mild soap to clean the belts.
- When installing seat belt mounting bolts and screws, tighten them by hand first to engage the threads.
- Do not attempt to repair the belt retractor or cover mechanisms. Replace any defective components with new ones.
- Replace belts that are cut or otherwise damaged.
1. Check all seat belt mounting bolts and screws to ensure they are securely tightened.
2. Inspect the seat belt buckle. The buckle should be easy to fasten and unfasten.
3. After inserting the tongue into the lock, pull the belt sharply. The lock should not come loose.
4. Pull the shoulder portion of the belt out fully and make sure there are no twists or tears in the belt.
5. Release the shoulder portion of the belt until it is fully retracted. The belt should retract freely.
