Pump assembly (engine 3.2 petrol) (Chevrolet Captiva 1)

Removal procedure

1. Remove the accessory drive poly V-belt. See section 1C2, "Engine Mechanical System - HFV6 3.2L".



2. Remove the front engine shield. See section 9R, "Front End of Body".



3. Place a drain pan underneath to catch the power steering fluid that will drain after the high pressure hose is disconnected from the power steering pump.

4. Disconnect the high pressure hose and feed hose from the power steering pump.



5. Remove the two power steering pump bolts through the hole in the pump pulley and remove the power steering pump from the vehicle.

Installation procedure

1. Install the power steering pump onto the vehicle and tighten the pump bolts.

Tighten

Tighten the steering pump bolts to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).



2. Connect the feed hose to the power steering pump.

3. Connect the high pressure hose fitting to the power steering pump.

Tighten

Tighten the high pressure hose fitting to 28 Nm (21 ft·lbs).



4. Install the front engine shield. See section 9R, "Front End of Body".



5. Install the accessory drive poly V-belt. See section 1C2, "Engine Mechanical System - HFV6 3.2L".

6. Fill the reservoir with power steering fluid. See section 6A, "Power Steering System".

7. Bleed the power steering system. See section 6A, "Power Steering System".
