Type 1
The immobilizer system is an additional means of anti-theft protection of the car and serves to prevent unauthorized engine starting. Only an ignition key with an electronically encoded transponder is suitable for cars equipped with an immobilizer system. The transponder is located inside the key and is invisible from the outside.
Only identified keys may be used to start the engine.
Unidentified keys can only unlock doors.
After turning the ignition key to the "LOCK" position and removing it from the ignition switch, the engine is automatically locked.
If the immobilizer system detects a malfunction with the ignition switch in the ON position, the immobilizer indicator will flash or remain on and the engine will not start.
Contact the service center to check the car, we recommend an authorized service center.
Note: Knock on the keyhole or heat the key if the door lock does not open due to freezing in cold weather.
Type 2
The system does not require manual activation or deactivation. The vehicle is automatically immobilized by the immobilizer when the ignition control knob is turned to the LOCK/OFF position. The immobilizer system is deactivated when the ignition control knob is turned to the ON position and a valid remote control is detected in the vehicle.
If the remote control is damaged, you may not be able to start your vehicle. The immobilizer indicator on the instrument cluster will illuminate if there is a problem activating or deactivating the anti-theft system. When attempting to start the engine, the immobilizer indicator will briefly illuminate when the ignition is turned on. If the engine does not start and the immobilizer indicator remains illuminated, this indicates a fault in the system. Turn the ignition control knob to the OFF position and try again.
If the ignition control knob does not turn and the remote control does not show any signs of damage, try again. If the engine does not start and the immobilizer indicator remains on, try using a different remote control. If the ignition control knob turns, the first remote control may be faulty. You can also try placing the remote control in the remote pocket located under the center console.
If the ignition control knob still does not turn with the old remote control, or the ignition control knob does not turn when the remote control is placed in the remote pocket, the vehicle requires service. Contact your dealer, who can service the anti-theft system and program a new remote control into the vehicle.
Do not leave a key or device that disables or deactivates the anti-theft alarm system in the vehicle. The immobilizer does not lock the doors. Always lock the vehicle whenever you leave the vehicle to activate the anti-theft alarm system.
