The ignition control knob can be turned to four different positions.

The remote control must be inside the vehicle when the ignition control knob is turned.

  • Manual transmission: Depress the clutch. Turn the ignition control knob to the START position, pressing the clutch pedal and releasing the electric parking brake switch, keeping the brake pedal depressed when the engine starts.
  • Automatic transmission: Move the gearshift lever to position P (Park) or N (neutral). The engine will not start in any other position. When the engine begins to crank, release the ignition control knob and it will return to the ON position.

If the ignition control knob does not turn, try pressing the knob and turning it again.

If the remote control is not in the vehicle or something is interfering with the remote control, the driver information display (DIC) in the center of the instrument cluster will display the message ELECTRONIC KEY NOT DETECTED (ELECTRONIC KEY NOT DETECTED).

Keyless locking

The doors will lock after a few seconds if the ignition is switched off, all doors are closed and at least one remote control has been removed from the vehicle.

At self-service petrol stations, if the driver exits the vehicle with the remote control, all doors, as well as

the fuel filler flap and tailgate will be locked in a few seconds. Press the button on the door handle or press the button on the remote control to unlock all doors as well as the fuel filler flap and tailgate during or after refueling.

Programming remote controls on a car

Only the remote controls programmed on the vehicle will work. If the remote control is lost or stolen, you can purchase a replacement remote and program it from your dealer. The vehicle can be reprogrammed so that lost or stolen remote controls no longer work.
