Removal procedure
1. Allow the engine to cool to ambient temperature (less than 50°C), then remove the coolant filler cap.
2. Drain the coolant. Follow step "Draining and filling the cooling system" in this section.
3. Loosen the water pump pulley mounting bolts.

4. Remove the accessory drive belt. See Part 1C2, Engine Mechanical - - HFV6 3.2L.
5. Unscrew the bolts (1) securing the water pump pulley completely, then remove the pulley (2) from the hub (3).

6. Remove the water pump (1) from the front engine cover.
7. Remove the water pump to front cover gasket (2) and discard.

Checking and cleaning procedure
1. Rotate the water pump hub (1). The hub and impeller (2) should rotate smoothly and evenly. If there is any vibration, increased noise, or uneven movement when rotating the hub, replace the water pump.
2. Check the water pump from the outside for the following conditions:
Damage to threads of water pump hub bolts for water pump pulley.
Damage to water pump bolt holes.
3. Inspect the water pump shaft (3) and the drain hole (4) in the water pump housing (5) for signs of leaks. If there are obvious signs of leaks, replace the water pump.
4. Check the water pump inside for the following conditions:
Damage to the surface (6) of the sealing flange - water pump gasket.
Damage, corrosion or restrictions of the water pump impeller.
Damage, corrosion or restrictions of coolant passages (7).
5. Replace the water pump if necessary.

Installation procedure
1. Install the water pump gasket (2) to the front cover.
2. Install the water pump (1) to the front engine cover.
Tighten
Tighten the water pump mounting bolts to 25 N·m (18 ft·lbs).

3. Install the water pump pulley.
Tighten
Tighten the water pump pulley mounting bolts to 12 N·m (106 lbs.in).
4. Install the accessory drive belt. See Part 1C2, Engine Mechanical - - HFV6 3.2L.
5. Fill the engine cooling system. Follow the step "Draining and filling the cooling system" in this section.
