Replacing the water pump (Chevrolet Aveo T300)

You will need: 13 mm keys, TORX T30, TORX T45, TORX E10 socket head, sliding pliers or combination pliers.

Remove the pump for replacement if there is a coolant leak or if there is noise during operation that exceeds the normal level.

1. Drain the cooling system (see "Replacing the coolant").

2. Remove the accessory drive belts (see "Replacement of auxiliary drive belts").

3. Remove the power steering pump (see "Replacing the power steering pump").

4. Remove the two bolts securing the power steering pump mounting bracket...

6. Loosen the clamp securing the radiator outlet hose by squeezing its bent ears with pliers, slide the clamp along the hose...

7. ...and disconnect the hose from the water pump pipe.

8. Remove the two bolts securing the water distribution pipe to the water pump.

NOTE: Cat collector removed for clarity.

WARNING: The water distribution pipe flange is sealed with a rubber ring. Replace this ring each time the connection is disassembled.

9. Remove the three water pump pulley mounting bolts and remove the pulley.

10. Remove the five water pump mounting bolts...

NOTE: Shown with engine removed for clarity.

11. ...and remove the pump.

WARNING: The pump body flange is sealed with a rubber gasket. Replace this gasket with a new one each time the connection is disassembled.


12. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.

13. Fill with coolant (see "Replacing the coolant").
