Description
1. The purpose of this system is to lock the selector lever in the Park position until the brake pedal is pressed. The presence of this system also eliminates the possibility of pulling the key out of the ignition switch if the selector is not set to the Park position. When the engine is started, the solenoid valve is excited and the selector lever is locked in the Park position. When the brake pedal is pressed, the solenoid valve is disconnected and the selector is unlocked.
2. The design of this system provides the ability to mechanically unlock the selector locked in the Park position, even if an electrical fault occurs. If mechanical unlocking is required, remove the selector lever trim cover (see chapter 11). Locate the release lever, which is located on the top right of the selector lever bracket, and move it forward.
Replacing the selector lock solenoid valve
3. Remove the floor console (see chapter 11).
4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the solenoid valve.
5. Remove the lever for mechanical release of the selector from the rotary channel and remove it.
6. Unscrew the mounting screws and remove the solenoid valve.
7. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
