Moving the gearshift lever from the PARK (P) position (Chevrolet Tahoe 1)

Your vehicle has a brake force lock. You must depress the brake pedal before moving the transmission lever from the PARK (P) position when the ignition key is turned to RUN (D).

If you are unable to move the gear lever out of PARK (P), release the pressure on the lever and move the lever all the way up again as previously described, then move the gear lever to the desired gear.

If you keep the brake pedal depressed but the gearshift lever does not move out of the PARK (P) position, try the following:

• 1. Turn the ignition key to OFF (C);
• 2. Press and hold the brake pedal again until step 4 is completed;
• 3. Move the gearshift lever to NEUTRAL (N);
• 4. Start the engine and then move the transmission lever to the desired gear;
• 5. Check the transmission lock system for brake force as soon as possible.
