Use these switches to turn 4WD on and off. You can choose from three riding positions.
2-wheel drive 2HI: This is the driving position for most streets and highways. The front axle is not connected with this drive.
4-wheel drive 4HI: This position connects the front axle. Use 4HI when extra grip is needed on snowy or icy roads or in most off-road situations.
4-wheel drive low speed 4LO: This position also connects the front axle. You may never need 4LO. This position sends maximum power to all four wheels. You could choose the 4LO for off-road riding in sand, mud, or deep snow, or going up and down steep hills.
The indicator lamps show you which position the transfer case is in. The indicator lamps come on immediately after turning the ignition key and show the last selected position. If the lamps do not light up, you should contact a service station. The indicator lamps flash during switching. They remain lit when the switchover is complete.
If for some reason the transfer box cannot take the required position, the transfer box will return to the previously selected position.
Switching from 2HI to 4HI
Press and release the 4HI button. This can be done at any speed and the indicator lamp will flash during the shift. It will stay lit when the switching is over.
Switching from 4HI to 2HI
Press and release the 2HI button. This can be done at any speed and the system will turn off automatically.
Switching from 2HI or 4HI to 4LO
To switch from 2HI or 4HI to 4LO, the vehicle must be stopped or moving at less than 3 mph (4.8 km/h) with gearbox in neutral (N). The preferred method is to switch to 4LO driving at a speed of 1-2 miles per hour (1.6-3.2 km/h). Press and release the 4LO button. You must wait until the indicator lamp stops flashing and stays on before moving the gear lever.
If the 4LO button is pressed while your vehicle is in gear and moving, the 4LO indicator light will flash for 30 seconds and shifting will not occur until your vehicle is moving slower than 3 mph (4.8 km/h) and the gearbox will not be in neutral (N).
Switching from 4LO to 4HI or 2HI
To change from 4LO to 4HI or 2HI, the vehicle must be stopped or moving at less than 3 mph (4.8 km/h) with gearbox in neutral (N). It is better if the car moves at a speed of 1-2 miles / hour (1.6-3.2 km/h). Press and release the 4HI button. You must wait until the indicator lamp stops flashing and stays on before moving the transmission control lever.
If the 4HI button is pressed while your vehicle is at speed or in motion, the indicator lamp will flash for 30 seconds and the switch will not occur until the vehicle is moving slower than 3 mph (4.8 km/h) and the gearbox will not be in neutral (N).
