Recommended fuel
Using fuel of a quality that does not comply with the current Technical Regulations (Directive No.118 of 27.02.2008, as amended on 30.12.2008 No.1076) may damage the engine and void the warranty. Be sure to use unleaded petrol with an octane rating of 95.
The quality of fuel and the additives it contains have a significant impact on engine power, vehicle dynamics and engine life.
Low octane fuel can cause engine detonation.
Caution: Using fuel with an octane rating lower than 95 may cause engine damage. (In some countries, unleaded petrol with an octane rating of 91 is permitted. For clarification, please contact an authorized service center.)
Use of leaded fuel will damage the exhaust system and void the warranty.
Note: To prevent accidental use of leaded gasoline, your vehicle is equipped with a fuel filler neck that is smaller in diameter than the diameter of the fuel nozzle for leaded gasoline.
The use of methanol is prohibited (methyl alcohol).
It is prohibited to use fuel containing methanol to refuel your vehicle.
The use of such fuel leads to deterioration of the vehicle's performance characteristics and damage to the components of the fuel supply system.
Warning: Using methanol may damage the fuel system. Such violation of the vehicle operating rules may void the warranty. Using the vehicle in other countries when traveling abroad:
- Comply with all legal requirements for registration and insurance.
- Make sure you have the correct fuel.
Fuel additives
Gasoline should contain cleaning additives that help prevent deposits from forming in the engine and fuel system. Clean fuel injectors and intake valves ensure proper functioning of the exhaust gas toxicity control system. Some types of gasoline contain insufficient additives to ensure that the fuel injectors and intake valves are clean. To compensate for this lack of cleaning capacity, it is recommended to add GM Fuel System Treatment PLUS (ACDelco part # 88861013) to the fuel tank at each engine oil change or every 15,000 km, whichever comes first.
Gasoline grades containing oxygenates such as ethers and ethanol may be available in your area. However, fuels containing more than 15% ethanol, such as E85 (85% ethanol), or more than 15% MTBE s(ether), should not be used in vehicles not designed to use such fuels.
Note: This vehicle is not designed to use fuel containing methanol. Do not use fuel containing methanol. It may corrode metal parts of the fuel system and damage plastic and rubber parts. Such damage will not be covered by the vehicle warranty.
Some gasolines may contain an octane booster called methylcyclopentadienyl manganese tricarboxylate (MMT). Ask the gas station attendant if the gasoline you are selling contains MMT. It is not recommended to use such gasoline.
Fuel containing MMT may shorten spark plug life and impair emission control system performance. The malfunction indicator lamp may come on. If this occurs, see your dealer for service.
