Idle pulley of the auxiliary drive belt (Chevrolet Captiva 1)

Removal procedure



1. Remove the decorative engine cover. See "Decorative Engine Cover" in this section.

2. Remove the air cleaner assembly. See Part 1C2, "Engine Mechanical - HFV6 3.2L".

3. Turn the accessory drive belt tensioner clockwise to decrease the belt tension.

4. While holding the tensioner in the reduced tension position, disconnect the belt.

5. Loosen the tie bolt securing the idler pulley of the accessory drive belt to the generator.

6. While carefully supporting the generator, remove the upper generator mounting bolts to facilitate removal of the pinch bolt.

7. Remove the tie bolt securing the accessory drive belt idler pulley to the generator.



8. Remove the accessory drive belt idler pulley.

8. Remove the accessory drive belt idler pulley.


Installation procedure



1. While carefully supporting the generator, install the accessory drive belt idler pulley.

Tighten

Tighten the accessory drive belt idler pulley-to-alternator clamp bolt to 50 N·m (37 lb-ft).

2. Install the upper generator mounting bolts.

Tighten

Tighten the upper alternator mounting bolts to 58 N·m (43 lb-ft).

Tighten the upper alternator mounting bolts to 58 N·m (43 lb-ft).


3. Turn the accessory drive belt tensioner clockwise.

4. While holding the tensioner in the reduced tension position, install the belt.

5. Install the air cleaner assembly. See Part 1C2, "Engine Mechanical - HFV6 3.2L".

6. Install the decorative engine cover. See Part 1C2, "Engine Mechanical - HFV6 3.2L".
