Cleaning and checking the thrust ring and bearing (Chevrolet Captiva 1)

1. Check the thrust ring for signs of wear or damage. Replace thrust rings that are worn or damaged.





2. Check the condition of all thrust bearings, the primary shaft bearing, and the secondary shaft bearing. Wash the bearings thoroughly in a cleaning solvent. Blow out the bearings with compressed air. Lubricate the bearings with low-viscosity oil. Check the bearings for unevenness by slowly rotating the race by hand.

Important: Do not allow the bearings to rotate quickly. Rotate the bearings slowly by hand. Rotating the bearings quickly can damage the rollers.
