2. Dry the coupling with compressed air.
3. Check the condition of the teeth of the ring gear (1).

4. Check for fatigue cracks near the holes for the bolts securing the coupling to the crankshaft (2).
Caution: Do not repair cracks by welding, install a new coupling.
5. Check for fatigue cracks in the weld (3) securing the ring gear to the coupling plate.
