Crankshaft pulley — cleaning and checking (Chevrolet Tahoe 2)

1. Wash the crankshaft pulley with solvent.

2. Use a wire brush to clean the grooves of the pulley under the drive belt of the attachment units.

3. Dry the crankshaft pulley with compressed air.

4. Check the condition of the pulley surface on which the front crankshaft oil seal operates. If there is a wear groove, corrosion spots or other defect, replace the pulley.

Minor surface defects can be removed by polishing.

5. Check the condition of the pulley grooves. The grooves should not have chips, burrs or other defects that disrupt the belt's operation path.

Minor defects can be removed with a fine file.

6. Check the condition of the rubber pulley damper, look for signs of cracking or delamination of the damper from the metal.
