Restoration of anti-corrosion and anti-noise coating of the underbody and wheel arches (Chevrolet Niva 1)

During vehicle operation, the coating on the underbody is exposed to gravel, sand, salt, and moisture. As a result, the mastic and primer are damaged and worn away. The exposed metal is subject to corrosion.

In case of damage to the D-11A plastisol coating without damaging the primer layer, clean the damaged areas from dirt and apply Merkasol 845 AL mastic 1.5 mm thick to the dry surface using an airless spray or brush. Dry the coating in natural conditions for 24 hours or at a temperature of 90°C for 30 minutes.

In case of significant damage to the protective coating with damage to the primer layer, clean the damaged areas of the surface down to the metal from dirt and rust and apply a primary primer to the dry, degreased surface. Apply Merkasol 845 AL mastic with a brush to the primed areas of the surface.

If the vehicle's service life does not exceed 1-1.5 years, the overlap of the new mastic layer over the old one should be minimal. If the vehicle is used for a longer period of time with this underbody coating, apply the mastic over the entire surface of the underbody and wheel arches.

In the cold season, before using the mastic, keep it in a warm room until the temperature rises to at least 20°C. If the mastic thickens, dilute it with xylene, but not more than 3%.

Clean the paintwork from dirt using mastic and a rag soaked in white spirit.
