1. Spark plug wires should be checked at the same time as spark plug replacement.
2. To check and clean the wires, disconnect each wire separately by turning the tip 1/2 turn and pushing it towards you. Disconnect the wire on the distributor cap. Check the condition of the wire contacts and seals. Wipe the wires. Do not bend the wire too much, as this may break the conductive core. If cracks, signs of breakdown or burning are found, replace the wire.
3. Check for corrosion on the wire end connectors and spark plug terminals. Check the strength of the detachable connection by placing the wire end on the spark plug and shaking it. If the connection is loose, tighten the contact petals.
