2. Release screws of fastening of a cover of the distributor of ignition.
3. On some models, the distributor cap is secured with spring clips that resemble screws. To release the latches, press down on them with the blade of a screwdriver and turn them 1/2 turn. Remove the cover along with the wires.
4. Check the condition of the slider on the ignition distributor roller. Check for cracks, surface breakdown, wear, scorching and corrosion (see photo). If these defects are found, as well as when the spring contact is loosened, replace the slider.
5. To replace the slider, remove it from the roller and install a new one. On some models, the slider is simply pressed onto the roller.
6. The slider is installed on the roller in only one position. The tooth on the slider should be opposite the groove of the roller (or vice versa). If the slider is fastened with screws, then square and rounded teeth should be provided in its lower part, which should go into the corresponding sockets.
7. Wipe the cover clean and check for cracks inside and outside of the cover, signs of surface breakdown (thin charred paths), wear, burning and loosening of contacts (see photo).
8. At the end of the check, replace the distributor cap in reverse order.
