General information about engines (Chevrolet Tahoe 1)

This chapter covers procedures for repairing engines without removing them from the vehicle.

When describing some repair procedures, it was taken into account that the engine is installed on the vehicle, therefore, they are not applicable during disassembly and major repairs.

V8 engines installed in Chevrolet and GMC trucks have a displacement of 5.0 to 7.4 liters. The 5.0 liter and 5.7 liter engines are known as "small blocks" ("small block"), the 7.4 liter engine is known as the Mark IV or "big block" ("large block").

The V6 engine has a cylinder capacity of 4.3 liters and is almost identical to the V8 engine. Almost all procedures for the V6 engine are the same as for the V8, differences are noted in the text.
