Torque converter drive clutch (Chevrolet Tahoe 2)

Removal



1. Remove the automatic transmission.

Caution: Before removing, mark the position of the coupling relative to the crankshaft.


2. Loosen the coupling mounting bolts.

3. Remove the coupling.

4. If a spacer is installed on the crankshaft flange, screw two bolts (1) M11x1.5 into the threaded holes of the spacer.

5. Turn the bolts clockwise and remove the spacer.

5. Turn the bolts clockwise and remove the spacer.





Installation



Note: If a spacer is present, the torque converter drive clutch mounting bolts must be longer.


1. If a spacer is used to install the coupling, install it.

2. Install the torque converter drive clutch.

3. Apply locking adhesive to the threads of the mounting bolts.

4. Tighten the mounting bolts to the specified torque and in the order shown in the figure. Tightening torque:
  • 1st pass 20 Nm
  • 2nd pass 50 Nm
  • 3rd pass 100 Nm

3rd pass 100 Nm


5. Install the automatic transmission.
