Air manifold — removal and installation (3.8 l) (Chevrolet Lumina 1)

22. Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery.

23. Mark and disconnect any vacuum lines that may be mixed up, then remove the throttle cable bracket nuts.

24. Remove the throttle body.

25. Remove the bolts holding the plastic shield of the spark plug wires.

26. Unscrew the manifold bolts (see illustration).

27. Remove the manifold and gaskets. If the commutator is stuck, use a block of wood and a rubber mallet to loosen it. Do not insert a screwdriver between the sealing flanges as this will damage the surfaces and may cause air to leak.

28. Remove all remaining old gasket material from the manifold and intake manifold mating surfaces. You can use old rags to fill the holes in the intake manifold to prevent dirt and old gasket material from getting inside.

29. Place new gaskets and install the manifold in its place.

30. Tighten the bolts to the torque specified in the specifications of this chapter.

31. Installation is carried out in reverse order.
