Throttle Body — Removal and Installation (3.8L) (Chevrolet Lumina 1)

Caution: Relieve fuel system pressure before servicing injectors, fuel pump, fuel line, fuel distributor or pressure regulator. After servicing the fuel system, switch the ignition between the "ON" and "OFF" positions several times (with a 10 second pause) and check the system for leaks.


1. Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery.

2. Disconnect the electrical connectors of the IAC idle auxiliary air spool and the TPS throttle position sensor.

3. Disconnect all vacuum hoses from the throttle body.

4. Disconnect the throttle cable (see section 9).

5. Disconnect the crankcase ventilation hose.

6. Disconnect the air intake (see section 8).

7. Loosen the bolts securing the cable to the throttle body (see illustrations).

8. Loosen the throttle body bolts and disconnect it.

9. Install the throttle body and gasket and tighten the nuts to the torque specified in the specifications in this chapter.

10. The remaining installation operations are performed in reverse order.
