Jacking
The jack included in the vehicle's tool kit should only be used to change wheels or to allow support to be placed under a reinforced body element. If the car is supported only by a jack, then under no circumstances stand under the car and do not start the engine.
The vehicle must be on a level surface with the wheels locked and the gear shift lever in the PARK position. If your vehicle is on a roadway or other potentially dangerous area, turn on your hazard warning lights. If you intend to replace a wheel, loosen the lug nuts by half a turn before lifting the vehicle off the support surface.
Place the jack under the car on the appropriate side and rest it on a certain point (see illustrations). Rotate the jack handle clockwise to lift the corresponding wheel off the supporting surface. Unscrew the nuts, remove the wheel and replace it with a spare one. Install and tighten the wheel nuts securely, with their chamfer facing inward. Do not attempt to make final tightening of the nuts at this stage as this may cause the vehicle to fall off the stands. Lower the vehicle by rotating the jack handle counterclockwise. Remove the jack from under the car and tighten the wheel nuts in a diagonal sequence.
Installing the jack from the front - make sure the jack head fits securely into the frame recess
The rear stop point of the jack must be located exactly under the rear axle pipe (do not allow the jack to rest on the trailing arm or stabilizer)
Towing
When towing, it is necessary to use special devices that are connected to the load-bearing elements of the body. Additional tow hooks can be attached to both sides of the vehicle to pull out a stuck vehicle. Do not use hooks when towing a vehicle on the highway. Do not stand near the towing chain or sling, as serious injury may occur if these components break.
Manufacturers recommend transporting the described vehicles with suspended wheels or on a tow truck platform.
When towing, safety is a priority - follow the appropriate traffic laws. Along with the hitch, a safety chain must be used when towing.
It is permissible to tow vehicles with two-wheel drive without distance restrictions if the rear wheels are on the platform (at permissible speed). If the front wheels are on the platform, the towing speed should be limited to 30 km/h and the distance should not exceed 80 km. Failure to comply with this recommendation may result in damage to the transmission. Four-wheel drive vehicles with a dash-mounted transfer switch must be towed with the transfer case in neutral. If the front wheels are suspended, the towing distance is not limited. With the rear wheels suspended and the front wheels on the road surface, the towing distance is limited to 80 km.
Four-wheel drive vehicles without a dashboard-mounted transfer switch can only be towed forward, with the front wheels suspended. It is preferable to transport such vehicles on a platform.
When towing a vehicle of any configuration with the rear wheels suspended and the front wheels on the road surface, it is necessary that the ignition key is in position «OFF» - the steering column will be unlocked. It is also necessary to use a steering wheel clamp device, otherwise the steering column lock may be damaged.
