Lifting with a jack
The jack included in the vehicle's tool kit should only be used to change wheels or to provide support under a reinforced body element. If the car is supported only by a jack, do not under any circumstances stand under the car and do not start the engine.
The vehicle must be parked on a level surface with the wheels locked and the gearshift lever in the PARK position. If the vehicle is on a roadway or in another potentially dangerous area, turn on the hazard warning lights. If you plan to change a wheel, loosen the lug nuts by half a turn before raising the vehicle above the supporting surface.
Place the jack under the car on the appropriate side and rest it on a certain point (see illustrations). Rotate the jack handle clockwise, lifting the corresponding wheel off the supporting surface. Unscrew the mounting nuts, remove the wheel and replace it with the spare. Install and tighten the wheel nuts securely, with the chamfer facing inward. Do not attempt to tighten the nuts completely at this stage as this may cause the vehicle to fall off the struts. Lower the vehicle by turning the jack handle counterclockwise. Remove the jack from under the vehicle and tighten the lug nuts in a diagonal pattern.
Installing the jack from the front - make sure that the jack head fits securely into the frame recess
The rear support point of the jack must be positioned exactly under the rear axle tube (do not allow the jack to rest against the longitudinal arm or stabilizer)
Towing
When towing, it is necessary to use special devices that are connected to the supporting elements of the body. Additional towing hooks can be attached to both sides of the vehicle to help pull out a stuck vehicle. Do not use hooks when towing your vehicle on the highway. It is prohibited to be near the towing chain or strap, since if these elements break, serious injury can occur.
Manufacturers recommend transporting the described vehicles with suspended wheels or on a tow truck platform.
When towing, safety is a priority - please follow the relevant traffic regulations. In addition to the hitch, a safety chain must be used during towing.
It is permissible to tow two-wheel drive vehicles without distance limitation if the rear wheels are on the platform (at the permitted speed). If the platform has front wheels, the towing speed should be limited to 30 km/h and the distance should not exceed 80 km. Failure to follow this recommendation may result in damage to the gearbox. All-wheel drive vehicles with a transfer case switch located on the instrument panel must be towed with the transfer case in neutral. If the front wheels are suspended, the towing distance is not limited. With the rear wheels suspended and the front wheels on the road surface, the towing distance is limited to 80 km.
All-wheel drive vehicles without a dashboard-mounted transfer case switch can only be towed forward with the front wheels suspended. It is preferable to transport such vehicles on a platform.
When towing a vehicle of any configuration with the rear wheels suspended and the front wheels on the road surface, the ignition key must be in the "OFF" position - this will unlock the steering column. It is also necessary to use a steering wheel clamping device, otherwise damage to the steering column lock may occur.
