NOTE: To secure the vehicle to the tow truck platform, a stationary eye is provided, located at the rear of the vehicle on the right side of the spare wheel well. The stationary eye can also be used for towing a car if it is impossible to use a removable eye, but there is a high probability of damage to the lower edge of the bumper.
WARNING: Vehicles equipped with a catalytic converter must not be started by towing or pushing. This can lead to overheating and catalytic converter failure. If the battery is dead, do not attempt to start the engine by towing or pushing the vehicle.
To tow the vehicle, install a detachable towing eye at the front. To do this, do the following.
1. Open the trunk lid.
2. Raise the spare wheel well cover.
3. Remove the towing eye 1 from the cassette (see fig. 2.1)...
4.... and wrench 3 for wheel nuts.
5. Press on the right end of the lug hole plug...
6.... and remove the plug from the hole in the bumper.
NOTE: The hole for attaching the detachable towing eye is located on the right side of the front bumper.
7. Screw in the towing eye by hand, turning it counterclockwise (thread left).
8. Tighten the towing eye using the wheel nut wrench as a wrench.
9. Attach the tow rope to the eye.
10. Insert the key into the ignition to unlock the steering wheel and be able to use the lights (brake light, direction indicators, etc.) according to the rules of the road. Manual transmission control lever (automatic transmission selector lever) set to neutral («N»). If possible, tow the vehicle with the engine running so that the force on the steering wheel and brake pedal is not increased.
WARNING: The brake booster and power steering only operate when the engine is running. Therefore, take into account the fact that when towing a car with an idle engine, the force on the brake pedal and steering wheel increases sharply.
It is possible to tow a car equipped with an automatic transmission with an idle engine at a speed of no more than 50 km/h for a distance of no more than 30 km. Otherwise, the gearbox will fail, since its working fluid pump does not work and the gearbox parts are not lubricated.
11. After towing is complete, remove the towing eye in the reverse order of installation and install the plug in the bumper window.
12. To use the car as a towing vehicle, remove the necessary tool from the cassette (see paragraphs above. 1-4).
13. Press the bottom edge of the plug...
14.... and remove the plug from the hole in the rear bumper.
15. Screw in the towing eye by hand, turning it counterclockwise.
16. Tighten the lug using the wheel nut wrench as a wrench.
17. Attach one end of the towing cable to the eye, and attach the other end of the cable to the front towing eye of the vehicle being towed.
WARNING: It is strictly forbidden to attach the towing cable to the elements of the exhaust system and rear suspension!
18. After towing, remove the towing eye in the reverse order of installation, and install the plug in the bumper window.
