Removal procedure
Caution: To prevent injury, do not remove the radiator until the engine and radiator have cooled down.
1. Remove the decorative cover. See Section 1B, "Engine Mechanical System - 2.0 Diesel".
2. Remove the charge air cooler inlet/outlet hoses. See Section 1B, "Engine Mechanical System - 2.0 Diesel".
3. Drain the engine coolant. Follow step "Draining and filling the cooling system" in this section.

4. Remove the upper radiator grille guide. Follow section 9R, Front End.
5. Remove the lower engine shield. Follow section 9N, Frame and Underbody.
6. Discharge the air conditioning system, if equipped. Follow section 7B, Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Systems Control.

7. Remove the upper radiator bracket.

8. Disconnect the transaxle oil cooler line from the automatic transaxle, if equipped. See Section 5A, Automatic Transmission with Final Drive Assembly AISIN 55-51LE.
9. Disconnect the upper/lower radiator hoses from the radiator.

10. Remove the A/C condenser inlet/outlet tubes from the A/C condenser, if equipped. Follow section 7B, Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Systems Control.
11. Remove the lower radiator bracket from the frame.

Caution! Do not damage the radiator fins to avoid disrupting the operation of the cooling system.
12. Carefully remove the radiator and fan assembly from the vehicle onto the floor.
13. Remove the radiator assembly.

14. Remove the oil cooler and transmission line assembly, if equipped.
15. Remove the air conditioner condenser.
16. Remove the charge air cooler.
Cleaning procedure
Warning! NEVER spray water on a hot radiator. The resulting steam may cause injury.
Note: The radiator fins are used to ensure proper heat transfer. Do not brush the fins. This may damage the fins and reduce heat transfer.
Important: Remove insects, leaves, dirt and other debris with a jet of compressed air from the engine side of the radiator. In some cases, warm water and a mild detergent may be necessary.
1. Clean the radiator cooling fins.
2. If there are damaged cooling fins, they need to be straightened.

Installation procedure
Caution! Do not damage the radiator fins to avoid disrupting the operation of the cooling system.
1. Install a charge air cooler.
2. Install the air conditioner condenser.
3. Install the oil cooler and transmission line assembly, if equipped.
Tighten
Tighten the charge air cooler retaining bolts to 8.5 N·m (75.2 lbs.in).
Tighten the A/C condenser retaining bolts to 16 N·m (11.8 ft·lbs).
Tighten the oil cooler and transaxle line retaining bolts to 10 N·m (88.5 lbs.in).

4. Install the radiator assembly.

5. Install the lower radiator bracket to the frame.
Tighten
Tighten the lower radiator bracket bolts and nuts to 50 Nm (36.9 ft·lbs).

6. Tighten the upper radiator bracket locking bolts to 20 Nm (14.8 ft·lbs).
