Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) Valve and Adapter (Chevrolet Captiva 1)

Removal procedure



1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. Remove the decorative cover. See "Decorative cover" in this section.

3. Remove the air intake hoses and ducts. See "Air injection system" in this section.

3. Remove the air intake hoses and ducts. See «Air injection system» in this section.


4. Disconnect the solenoid valve connector and the inlet/outlet vacuum hoses from the EGR solenoid valve.

5. Disconnect the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose from the turbocharger intake elbow.

6. Remove the crankcase forced ventilation valve (PCV) bolts from the crankcase forced ventilation valve (PCV) adapter.

7. Remove the positive crankcase ventilation valve.

7. Remove the positive crankcase ventilation valve.


8. Remove the turbocharger heat shield. See Section 1F1, Engine Controls - 2.0 Diesel.


9. Remove the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve adapter with the adapter gasket.

9. Remove the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve adapter with the adapter gasket.


Installation procedure



1. Install the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve adapter with a new gasket.

Tighten the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve adapter bolts to 11 N·m (97.4 lbs.in).

Tighten the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve adapter bolts to 11 N·m (97.4 lbs.in).


2. Positive crankcase ventilation valve (PCV).

Tighten the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve bolts to 11 N·m (97.4 lbs.in).

Tighten the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve bolts to 11 N·m (97.4 lbs.in).
