Removal procedure



1. Remove the air cleaner assembly. See "Air injection system" in this section.

2. Raise and secure the vehicle.

3. Remove the right front wheel. See Section 2E, Tires and Wheels.

4. Remove the front engine shield from the right front wheel side. Follow section 9R, Front End.

5. Install the EN-48253 accessory drive belt puller/installer onto the tensioner arm guide and turn the tensioner clockwise.

6. Turn the tensioner completely and at the same time insert the EN-48301 tensioner spring locking pin into the tensioner pin hole.

7. Remove the auxiliary belt.

8. Remove the tensioner using the EN-48300 tensioner remover/installer.

Installation procedure



1. Tighten the tensioner bolt by hand.

Note: Without releasing the tensioner, tighten the tensioner bolt firmly by hand. At this point, the tensioner installation pin (a) is deviated from the tensioner installation pin hole (b).


Caution: If the tensioner bolt is turned excessively with the tool, the tensioner mounting pin and bracket may wear out.

2. Install the accessory drive belt.

3. Install the EN-48253 accessory drive belt remover/installer onto the tensioner arm guide and turn the tensioner counterclockwise.

Note: The tensioner mounting pin (a) is inserted into the tensioner mounting pin hole (b).


4. Install the tensioner using the EN-48300 tensioner puller/installer.

Tighten the tensioner lock bolt to 48 N·m (35.4 ft·lbs).

5. Remove the tensioner spring retaining pin EN-48301 using the accessory drive belt remover/installer EN-48253.
