Removal procedure
Note: The procedures for replacing the intake and exhaust camshaft position (CMP) sensors are generally the same; the procedure below applies to the intake camshaft position sensor only.
Cylinder bank 1
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the air cleaner assembly. See Part 1C2, "Engine Mechanical - HFV6 3.2L".
3. Disconnect the wiring harness connector (1) from the CMP sensor (2).

Caution: Before removing, clean the area around the CMP sensor to prevent dirt from getting into the engine.
4. Remove the CMP sensor mounting screw (1).
5. To remove the camshaft position sensor (2), first rotate it to release it, then pull it away from the front engine cover.

Cylinder bank 2

Installation procedure
Cylinder bank 1
1. Lubricate the CMP sensor O-ring with clean engine oil.
2. Install the CMP sensor (2) by pressing it so that the sealing ring is pressed against the front engine cover.
Caution: Before tightening the mounting screw to the specified torque, check that the CMP sensor is fully inserted.
3. Install the screw (1) securing the camshaft position sensor.
Tighten
Tighten the camshaft position sensor mounting screw to 10 N·m (89 lb-in).
4. Connect the CMP sensor connector.

Cylinder bank 2
1. Lubricate the CMP sensor O-ring with clean engine oil.
2. Install the CMP sensor (2) by pressing it until the sealing ring is pressed against the front engine cover.
