Note: The procedures for replacing the intake (1) and exhaust (2) camshaft position (CMP) control solenoids are generally the same; the procedure below applies to the intake camshaft position control solenoid only.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. Remove the air cleaner assembly. See Part 1C2, "Engine Mechanical - HFV6 3.2L".

3. Remove the engine mount support bracket. See Part 1C2, "Engine Mechanical - HFV6 3.2L".

4. Disconnect the wiring harness connector (1) from the camshaft position control solenoid (2).

4. Disconnect the wiring harness connector (1) from the camshaft position control solenoid (2).


Caution: Before removing, clean the area around the camshaft position control solenoid to prevent dirt from getting into the engine.




5. Remove the screw (1) securing the camshaft position control solenoid (2).

Caution: When removing the camshaft position control solenoid, ensure that the drive annular grooves do not damage the solenoid seal (3).


6. To remove the camshaft position control solenoid, first twist it to release it, then pull it away from the front engine cover.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. Remove the air cleaner assembly. See Part 1C2, "Engine Mechanical - HFV6 3.2L".



3. Remove the engine mount support bracket. See Part 1C2, "Engine Mechanical - HFV6 3.2L".

4. When removing the exhaust camshaft position control solenoid, remove the accessory drive belt. See Part 1C2, "Engine Mechanical - HFV6 3.2L".

5. Disconnect the wiring harness connector (1) from the camshaft position control solenoid (2).

Caution: Before removing, clean the area around the camshaft position control solenoid to prevent dirt from getting into the engine.

Installation procedure



Cylinder bank 1



1. Check the camshaft position control solenoid seal (1) for damage and replace if necessary.

2. Lubricate the lip of the camshaft position control solenoid seal with clean engine oil.

Caution: When installing the camshaft position control solenoid, ensure that the annular grooves (2) of the drive do not damage the solenoid seal.


3. Install the camshaft position control solenoid.

Tighten

Tighten the camshaft position control (CMP) solenoid mounting bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb-in).

Tighten the camshaft position control (CMP) solenoid mounting bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb-in).


Cylinder bank 2



1. Check the camshaft position control solenoid seal (1) for damage and replace if necessary.

2. Lubricate the lip of the camshaft position control solenoid seal with clean engine oil.

Caution: When installing the camshaft position control solenoid, ensure that the annular grooves (2) of the drive do not damage the solenoid seal.


3. Install the camshaft position control solenoid.

Tighten

Tighten the camshaft position control (CMP) solenoid mounting bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb-in).
