Exhaust A and Intake B camshaft position sensors (Chevrolet Aveo T300)

Exhaust A and Intake B camshaft position sensors (phase sensors) are installed on the rear end of the cylinder head. If there is a fault in the circuit of one of the sensors, the ECU stores a fault code in its memory and uses a bypass engine control program (without changing the valve timing).

You will need: TORX E10 key, flat-blade screwdriver.

1. To remove the exhaust camshaft position sensor, disconnect the wire from the negative terminal of the battery.

2. Pull out the lock of the sensor wiring harness connector...

3. ... squeeze the retainer and disconnect the connector from the sensor.

4. Unscrew the sensor mounting bolt...

5. ...and remove the sensor from the hole in the cylinder head.

6. Use a screwdriver to pry up and remove the rubber sealing ring from the sensor.

NOTE: Replace the camshaft position sensor sealing ring with a new one each time the connection is disassembled.




7. Install the sensor in the reverse order of removal.

8. The intake camshaft position sensor is removed and installed in the same way.
