1. Disconnect the wire from the negative terminal of the battery.

2. Remove the ignition coil assembly (see "Removal and installation the ignition coil unit").

3. Blow out the spark plug wells with compressed air to prevent dirt from getting into the engine cylinder when removing the spark plug.

4. Remove the spark plug...

5. ...and remove it from the spark plug well.

NOTE: Inspect the spark plug and assess its condition by its appearance (see "Diagnosing engine condition by the appearance of spark plugs").

6. Check the gap between the spark plug electrodes with a round feeler gauge. It should be 1.0-1.1 mm.

7. If the gap is not within the norm, adjust it by bending the side electrode.
8. When installing spark plugs, screw them in by hand first (without a collar), and then tighten with a wrench.
