The tension of the accessory drive belt (Fig. 5.29) is checked by pressing a finger on the belt branch between the generator and water pump pulleys. When pressing with a force of 100 N (10 kgf), the belt deflection should be 4-6 mm. If the belt is loose, the automatic tensioner must be replaced. The poly V-belt should be replaced if any tears, cracks or abrasions are found on it. The power steering pump is driven from the water pump pulley.

1. Open the hood.
2. Remove the air filter for easier access (see "Removal and installation the air filter housing and intake noise muffler").
3. Using a special key, turn tensioner roller 1 (Fig. 5.30) in the direction of the arrow and secure it with pin 2.

4. Remove the power steering pump drive belt.
5. Remove the accessory drive belt.
6. Install the power steering drive belt and accessory drive belt in the reverse order of removal.
