2. Drain the coolant.
3. Loosen the fan pulley nuts/bolts and remove the drive belt.
4. Loosen the clamps and disconnect the hose from the pump. On a 7.4 liter engine, disconnect the bypass hose from the pump.
5. Remove the fan and pump pulley.
6. On some vehicles, brackets for the compressor, generator or power steering pump are installed on the pump mounts (see photo).

7. Loosen the mounting bolts and remove the pump (see photo), opening the seal (see photo).


8. Clean the sealing surface on the cylinder block and on the pump.
9. Apply a thin layer of RTV sealant to the joint surfaces of the cylinder block and pump and glue on a new gasket.
10. Install the pump in place. Install the removed brackets in the pump mounting locations. Without allowing the pump to shift, tighten the mounting bolts evenly to the specified torque.
11. Further assembly is carried out in reverse order.
