The centrifugal coolant pump consists of an impeller, a drive shaft and a belt pulley. The coolant pump is installed in the front part of the cylinder block and is driven by a toothed timing belt. The pump bearing is completely sealed. The coolant pump is a non-disassemblable unit.
Removal the coolant pump
1. Drain some of the coolant from the cooling system so that the fluid level is below the thermostat housing.
2. Remove the rear part of the timing belt cover.
3. Remove the coolant pump mounting screws.
4. Remove the coolant pump from the engine block.
5. Remove the cuff from the coolant pump.

Inspection and cleaning of the coolant pump
1. Inspect the coolant pump housing for cracks and leaks.
2. Check the pump bearing for wobble or abnormal noise.
3. Inspect the coolant pump pulley for excessive wear. If the pump is faulty, replace it completely.
4. Clean the mating surfaces and the cylinder block.
Installing the coolant pump
1. Install a new sealing ring on the coolant pump.
2. Lubricate the cuff surfaces with Lubriplate+.
3. Install the coolant pump and secure it, after adjusting the timing belt tension.
4. Finally secure the coolant pump by tightening the mounting screws to a torque of 10 Nm.
5. Install the removed elements in the reverse order of removal.
6. Fill the cooling system.
