Pre-lubrication of the engine after major repairs (Chevrolet Tahoe 1)

1. It is recommended that the engines in question be pre-lubricated before the first start. This procedure reduces wear on parts during running-in. For pre-lubrication, the engine must be fully assembled except for the cylinder head covers and the ignition distributor. Fill the engine with oil.

2. Pre-lubrication is provided by rotating the oil pump through the distributor socket. For this purpose, an old modified Chevrolet distributor is used, which engages with the oil pump shaft and is driven by an electric drill (the drill rotates clockwise) (see photo).





3. Oil should appear from the holes in the rocker arms approximately 3 minutes after turning on the drill. A few seconds after the oil starts flowing out, turn off the drill (see photo).





4. Install the ignition distributor back into place after installing the engine on the vehicle.
