Removal
1. Completely drain the cooling system.
2. Raise the vehicle and place safety posts under the frame.
3. (LC9/L76/L92 engines and LMG/LY5/LY6 1500 series engines) Loosen the oil pan protection mounting bolts (if installed).
(Engines LMG/LY5/LY6 series 2500) unscrew the two front oil pan guard mounting bolts, loosen the two rear bolts and remove the guard.
4. On L76 and LY6 (6.0L) models, follow these steps. On other models, skip to step 5.
- a) Loosen the bolt (1) of the oil cooler hose bracket. Tightening torque 25 Nm.
- b) Loosen the bolts (2) of the oil cooler hose adapter. Tightening torque 12 Nm.
- c) Remove the adapter and gasket, discard the gasket.
- d) Move the adapter and hoses to the side.
5. Disconnect the heater wiring connector.

Caution: When removing the heater, do not damage the seat.
6. Unscrew the heater from the engine block. Tightening torque 50 Nm.
7. Clean all surfaces of the heater.
Installation
8. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. Apply sealant to the heater threads before installation.
