Removal
Note: On early engine models, the thermostat is not serviceable separately and must be replaced along with the coolant pump hose.
1. Drain the cooling system.
2. Remove the air filter outlet duct.

3. Remove the clamp securing the lower radiator hose to the coolant pump pipe.
4. Remove the lower radiator hose from the pump connection.
5. Loosen the coolant pump pipe mounting bolts. Tightening torque 15 Nm.

6. Remove the coolant pump hose.

7. Remove and discard the hose seal.
8. Remove the thermostat.
9. Installation is carried out in reverse order.
Examination
The temperature at which the thermostat starts and ends to open is indicated on the thermostat housing, typically the thermostat starts to open at 87°C and ends to open at 97°C.
1. Hang the thermostat on a wire in a container with coolant (a solution in a 50/50 ratio of ethylene glycol and water) so that it does not touch the walls of the container.

2. Heat the water to 11°C above the temperature indicated on the thermostat housing. After a while, the thermostat should open completely.
3. Cool the coolant: the thermostat should close completely at a temperature 6°C lower than the temperature indicated on the thermostat housing.
4. If the test results are negative, replace the thermostat.
