Installation

Attention:
  • Tighten the exhaust manifold mounting bolts to the recommended method. Improper installation of the exhaust manifold may result in exhaust leaks, which in turn will result in improper engine management and reduced OBD II diagnostic performance.
  • The threads of the holes for the exhaust manifold mounting bolts in the cylinder head must be clean, without any traces of old locking adhesive.
  • Do not apply locking adhesive to the first three threads of the bolt.

1. Install the catalytic converter insulator on the exhaust manifold.

2. Apply a bead of locking adhesive approximately 5 mm thick to the threads of the exhaust manifold mounting bolts.

3. Install the NEW exhaust manifold gasket and exhaust manifold onto the cylinder head.

4. Install and tighten the mounting bolts. Tighten the bolts from the center to the periphery. Tightening torque: 1st pass 15 Nm; 2nd pass 20 Nm.

5. Using a flat-head screwdriver or chisel, bend the tab on the rear of the gasket over the edge of the cylinder head.

6. On models with rear air conditioning, perform steps 7-12, otherwise proceed to step 13.

7. Place the heater inlet hose in the installation position.

8. Install the heater inlet hose to the coolant pump.

9. Install the heater inlet hose clamp onto the coolant pump.

10. Place the lower radiator hose in the installation position.

11. Install the lower radiator hose to the coolant pump.

12. Install the lower hose clamp.

13. Raise the car.

14. Install the catalytic converter on the exhaust manifold and tighten the mounting nuts. Tightening torque 50 N·m.

15. Install the oxygen sensor.

16. Lower the vehicle.

17. Install the oil dipstick tube.

18. Install the spark plugs.

19. Install the ignition coils.
