Catalytic Converter Isolator — 1500 Series (Chevrolet Tahoe 2)

Removal



1. Raise the vehicle and place safety posts under the frame.

2. If installed, unscrew the engine guard mounting bolts and remove the guard.

2. If installed, unscrew the engine guard mounting bolts and remove the guard.


Tightening torque 28 Nm.

3. Remove the holder (2) of the right front wire harness connector.

3. Remove the holder (2) of the right front wire harness connector.


4. Disconnect the right front oxygen sensor connector from the engine wire harness connector (1).

5. Remove the holder (5) of the connector (4) of the right rear wire harness.

6. Disconnect the connector (3) of the right rear oxygen sensor.

7. Disconnect the clip (6) of the right rear oxygen sensor wires from the engine wire harness.

8. Remove the holder (1) of the left rear wire harness connector.

8. Remove the holder (1) of the left rear wire harness connector.


9. Disconnect the connector (3) of the left rear oxygen sensor.



10. On vehicles with 4L60-E and 4L70-E automatic transmissions, perform steps 11-13; on vehicles with 6L80-E automatic transmissions, proceed to step 14.

11. Remove the retainer from the left front wire harness connector.

12. Disconnect the connector (2) of the left front oxygen sensor.

12. Disconnect the connector (2) of the left front oxygen sensor.


13. Disconnect the clip (1) of the left front oxygen sensor wires from the fuel pipe support clip.

14. Remove the connector retainer (2) of the left front wire harness.

14. Remove the connector retainer (2) of the left front wire harness.


15. Remove the engine wire harness clip (1) from the fuel pipe support clip.

16. Disconnect the connector (3) of the left front oxygen sensor.

17. Place a temporary support (jack) under the neutralizer assembly.

18. Remove the oxygen sensor.

19. Unscrew the nuts (1) securing the catalytic converter to the exhaust manifold. Tightening torque 50 Nm.

20. Separate the catalytic converter assembly from the exhaust manifolds.

21. Lower the catalytic converter assembly.

22. Remove the insulator (2) or (3).

Installation



23. Installation is carried out in reverse order.
